Events: Workshop on Pruning Illawarra Natives

Growing Illawarra Natives is offering a free workshop on how to prune Illawarra local native plants.

When: Sunday 12 October 10am-12pm

Where: Fairy Meadow (address provided after registration)

We don't particularly promote pruning, but there are situations where it might be necessary or beneficial. These include plants growing somewhere they don't really fit, such as under powerlines or in a narrow space; plants with an injury; or plants grown indoors. Discretionary pruning is something many people do to create a desired look, such as neat hedging.

This workshop will be led by expert horticulturist, bush regenerator and educator Carl Glaister and Growing Illawarra Natives' Emma Rooksby. It will cover best practice on pruning and different approaches to pruning for different kinds of local plants, and will include demonstrations on a few different species using hand tools (secateurs and loppers).  No large trees or chainsaws involved.
